Zoonanalia at The Gallery through June 26
Zooanalia simply means all animal life (other than human beings). This exhibit has all types from real to highly stylized. Animals are celebrated as painting, drawing, collage, photography, sculpture and quilt.
“Animals are very tightly woven into our human experience, both realistically and symbolically. Animals feed, clothe, comfort, protect, entertain, complement, and even heal us. They also annoy, harm, terrify, and even prey on us. And we do them. How appropriate it is, then, to celebrate our complex, dynamic connection with residents of the zoo. As you view this exhibition,… be advised: ‘It’s a jungle out there.’-Kat Block, Juror
South Brunswick Municipal Building, 540 Route 522, Monmouth Junction
Open 8:30-4:30pm weekdays, evenings when meetings are scheduled. Closed holidays.
The exhibit in the lobby display case at The Gallery features
Sue Chiu Ceramics Through July 30
Chiu, an experienced ceramic artist, creates functional and decorative oblects often incorporating images of insects, a natural bi-product of her work as an entomologist. Says Chiu, “Having always enjoyed various forms of artistic expression, my retirement hobby of pottery making has become my passion. My cultural background-Japanese, Taiwanese and American-provide me with wider vision and richer artistic expression. My goal is to make objects, functional or not, into beautiful pieces of art.” The works displayed are available for sale as are those in The Gallery.
